We had a good Memorial Day. No big changes, just hanging out and resting. We took her Versed down to 160 again and her feeds went up to 50ml. We scooched down her oxygen to about 34%. Incidentally, she's having to wear hospital gowns because the IV in her arm won't allow "normal" clothes to go on. Unfortunately, the only color they come in is baby-boy blue. I think she looks nice in it. Ruby spent most of the day out of her crib with mom and dad:

Afterwards, it was time for bed, so we rolled her up into a little baby burrito.

hello Holly and Chris....
I have spent the last three hours catching up with beautiful baby Ruby! And it's way past my bed time! But totally worth it. Fortunately, David will take care of Santiago tomorrow morning. It's his turn. Your baby girl is so precious and I am so glad she is doing better... I send you a big, big, big hug! And a big kiss for Ruby. Tell her that I wish her only the best and that I am sure she will have it. Ruby, come to Austin... Santiago would love to play with you!
Love,
alejandra mielke (friend of frances and jim)
You both should be so proud
You both should be so proud of Ruby! She is precious and I'm glad she is doing so well. Bradley continues to keep us up to date on her progress. I'm so happy for you all. I know what it is like to hold that little NICU baby for the first time, and it's the best feeing ever. Keep your head up. She'll be home with you before you know it.

ps. Tell us about her "Nelly" look...is that to protect & heal after having had tape on her face for so long before?
ok, incase anyone else
ok, incase anyone else wondered... 1) the Nelly look is from the tegraderm which is for the tape on her face to stick to because the tegraderm is more friendly on the skin that the mean ole tape would be. 2) Nelly is that rapper guy that would always wear a band-aid on his face as a memorial to a dead friend (or something like that).
I have been reading
I have been reading faithfully about you three.... and to see all these pictures of you both finally getting to hold her... brings happy tears to my eyes, and I am so grateful for that you are able to finally have this. Nothing in the whole wide world beats it, especially after having to wait as long as you did. :) She's just beautiful, and you guys are in my constant positive thoughts.

Awww, you guys look so happy. Like Julie said, the difference between what you guys look like now versus those early days really says a lot. I know Ruby still isn't out of the water, but she's definitely swimming a lot faster these days!
Lots of love to the three of you!

Chris: LOVE the picture of
Chris: LOVE the picture of you and Ruby...Daddy time is so important! Holly: your SMILE says it all!! I remember early on there was a picture of Ruby and Holly was in the background and she looked very sad/worried (of course, it was the day she went on ECMO I believe!) and I remember my heart just ached knowing all you guys were having to go through with great 'unknowns'. I just praise God and tears fill my eyes to see Holly's smile and realize how things are coming together. I'm still praying for progress and also trying to thank God for the progress with as much persistance and ferver as I begged him for the progress. :)
Much Love from the Power family,
Julie Power
