I just heard from Holly that they performed the more in-depth diagnostic hearing test and that Ruby passed 100% in both ears. The initial screening was just an instrument they place in her ear that takes measurements of some sort. It is susceptible to ambient noise causing false positives. Today, they knocked her out with a Versed rescue and placed EEG electrodes on her head to measure the brain's response to different frequency tones in each ear. This is more accurate and showed full response in both ears to a full range of sound.
While we weren't really too concerned about giving Ruby extra help to assist her with any hearing loss, it's nice to not need that. I'm sure we'll track her hearing closely and repeat these tests later. But for now, it looks like we might have caught a break.
(BTW, the Versed rescue they used for the test doesn't count against her in her wean scores. And maybe it'll help her with the morphine withdrawal a bit today.)

Yay Ruby!!! I wondered if
Yay Ruby!!! I wondered if this was the case, because our general hearing screen (I'm a labor/delivery and NICU nurse) also creates a lot of false positives. Wonderful news for Ruby!!
Yay, well done Ruby. Sounds

Great news! Although I agree with you, overcoming any potential hearing issues would have been no big deal based on everything else this beautiful girl has been through.
Hooray on passing the carseat test! And yeah, I think you all ought to consider Hawaii. You need a vacation as a family after this. :)
