Ruby had a good weekend and hasn't needed a rescue. Yes, she's officially finished with the sedation wean. She is off the morphine and versed for good. If all goes well, she COULD be discharged Monday. Yes, tomorrow. HOWEVER... Ruby could still throw us a curveball, and we're sort of expecting it. Her incision scar was a little red and irritated. She's having a CBC early tomorrow morning that'll give us her white blood cell count. Needless to say, we're very anxious about the results. We should know more by mid-morning and I'll do my best to update this webpage in timely manner.
We didn't write anything this weekend because we were actually AWAY FROM THE NICU for nearly 24 hours, if you'll believe it. Holly and I decided we needed a micro-vacation to relax and regain some of our sanity before we take on the job of caring for Ruby 24x7. This involved a nice meal and a overnight stay in a nice bed and breakfast in the Rittenhouse Square area of Philadelphia. We were only about 3 minutes from CHOP, but we were able to catch up on some much-needed rest in a relaxing environment.
Sorry, no pictures tonight -- I need to hit the hay, since we may or may not have a big day tomorrow. The chicken hasn't hatched, so we're not counting her yet.
