Nothing to report

Nothing but diaper changes and growing going on this week.  It did finally cool down here, we had highs in the low 90's yesterday!  The air quality was bad, though.  It seems we can't catch a break as far as getting out of the house.  Hopefully this weekend we can take Ruby to The Blanton Art Musuem.  We had been going to yoga together, but I'm to afraid she'll get sick.  We never touch the other babies, but it's better to be safer than sorry.  Either way we are looking forward to a nice long weekend at home.

Ruby usually takes a short morning nap, 30-45 minutes.  I usually let her take it where ever she had her 9am feeding.  Sometimes though she falls asleep after a bit of play time.  I found a pack of textured balls at Costco.  They fit the description of toys her Speech Therapist suggested.  I haven't done much reading as to how the nubs stimulate sensory perception, but apparently they do.  This will all help with feeding eventually.  She wore herself out playing with them.

We usually put Ruby to bed around 9:30pm.  Ella watches over her until we go to bed a couple hours later.

Ruby usually wakes up in a good mood.  Here she is on Sunday morning.

We have our 5 month check-up on Friday.  Flu shots for Mom and Dad.  Then a weight check for Ruby.  We see the pulmonologist on Tuesday.  She gets a chest x-ray this time.  We'll also find out the date for our first RSV (synagis) shot.  We've been warned that they can be painful.  I'm not looking forward  to Ruby enduring the shots, but at least she doesn't have ECMO cannula coming out of her neck.  It's all about perspective.

Dear Holly and Chris: I ran

Dear Holly and Chris:

I ran across this web-site as I was looking for a simple definition of what my husband does for a living so that I could properly explain it to a friend of mine. My husband's name is Rob and he does ECMO at Dallas Childrens. I am so touched and moved by your journey and your story! My husband comes home too often saying that he has another baby with CDH on the machine (i think it is happening more than the 1/2500 statistic has revealed). I am so happy that Miss Ruby is home with you and is doing well!! Philadelphia Childrens is among one of the top rated childrens hospitals in the country..you chose a good place. I am so glad for you all and hope and pray for your continued health and happiness!

Sincerely,
Shannon Taylor

Ruby just keeps getting

Ruby just keeps getting cuter and cuter! Thy RSV shots aren't fun but necessary. I don't know if Braden is getting them or not this year. I'll have to ask at his 18 month check. They are quite expensive too! Hope it cools off a bit for you guys this weekend! Enjoy!

Ruby looks great! And so glad to hear that you are doing normal baby stuff. How did she like yoga? Alina loved it until she started sitting up. Good luck with the appt on Friday. We hope that everything goes well.

Look at those pretty blue eyes!! She's such a smiley happy baby. :)

Ruby is soooo darn cute! And

Ruby is soooo darn cute! And Beautiful. It's amazing how these kids fight right through CDH. I have been following your blog since the pregnancy. My daughter is a RCDH. And a survivor! The nubby stimulation is so they can become able to tolerate those textures again, especially after being ventilated for so long. The feeding road!! Keep going Ruby, you're looking great!
