tomorrow we heard the words Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia for the first time. We knew something wasn't right, mostly becasue the ultrasound was taking a VERY long time. When the technician finally told us we were having a girl she followed it with "I'm having trouble visualizing the stomach. I need to go get the doctor." Then the doctor walked in and said what no parent wants to hear, "The baby has problems." That started our CDH journey.
I'm posting this a day early, becasue I have busy week ahead of me. I'm determined to have Ruby on 5 preschool waiting lists by Christmas. Although we don't want her to go until she's three, it's necessary to start the process now. Crazy if you ask me. The fees to just get on lists are more than I paid for college applications. Crazy. We are very happy to be in a place where we are looking at preschools. A year ago we had just been told that we had a 30-50% of Ruby surviving.
Here are of few pictures from the Holiday Weekend.
OK internets here is when I come clean. I HATE making the bed. When I was a kid I always swore that when I was an adult I would NEVER make my bed. Now I only do it when company is coming. I would have preferred that Chris make it before he took such cute pictures of Ruby on the bed. Here's Ruby in her pink sparkly tutu on our unmade bed.
I don't normally buy things that aren't on sale. The tutu though was full price and in my opinion completely necessary. No wardrobe is complete without a pink sparkly tutu. I haven't found her the perfect tiara or cowboy boots yet. When I find those her stylish baby wardrobe will truly be complete.

Hard to believe, hard to
Hard to believe, hard to believe...
Just amazing the journey y'all have been on over this past year. So great to see La Rubita on the trail with you this weekend.
She rocks! :)
Love the pictures of Ruby! I
Love the pictures of Ruby! I still pray for this little girl on a regular basis and I'm so glad to hear about how well she is doing. Our daughter Eowyn still has a baby doll named Ruby, who she named Ruby after hearing us pray for your Ruby. A portion of Psalm 113, "Who is like the LORD our God, the One who sits enthroned on high, who stoops down to look on the heavens and the earth? He raises the poor from the dust and lifts the needy from the ash heap; he seats them with princes, with the princes of their people. He settles the barren woman in her home as a happy mother of children. Praise the LORD."

Holly and Chris-looks like a fun weekend. I think an unmade bed just says "cozy". Her tutu is perfect and it's totally ok that you paid full price!!! ;) I'm so grateful for science and medicine and your perfect little girl. xoxo Sarah

Holly,
I'll come clean, too...I don't make the bed either! It's enough to get a shower in daily! Who cares about the bed?!? I LOVE the Tu-tu outfit! Ruby is so stinking cute, I could just eat her up! Wish we lived closer, Jaime would get a kick out of her! She's so animated, just like him! :)
Our CDH anniversary is Dec. 30th....way to end the year, huh? So glad that we're ALL in a better place than we were a year ago! :)
Happy December....this year, we can honestly say that, we have lots to be happy for! :)
Hugs,
Sheryl

It is so wierd because today
It is so wierd because today is our anniversary of hearing about CDH as well. I was just thinking about it this morning when I woke up. I gave Miss Dakota a hug and told her that today last year was one of the worst days Mommy ever had but now she is making it one of the best this year!
Hugs, Jennifer
p.s. Great Tutu!!! Where did you get it??
