Well... This week hasn't really gotten much better. Ruby has been spitting up a lot more. We pretty much had the reflux under control for weeks. We haven't had spit up in a long time. Starting yesterday she was spitting up large amounts during her feeds. She is also pretty much refusing the bottle, again. She was getting so close to coming off the tube and then this week we've take 4-5 steps back. She seems a little bloated, too.
I took her in to Doc this morning. We got to meet the other doctor in the practice for the first time. I was kinda nervous since Dr. Dan knows Ruby so well, but Dr. J was up to date on Ruby. She walked in and said "I've been wanting to meet this little miracle for long time!". Dr.J thinks that maybe she's just a little bloated and gasy. We've eliminated some things from her diet and are going to give her some prunes. If this doesn't help we'll go for a chest x-ray on Monday to check for reherniation. Dr. J also said she could be fighting off something and only time will tell.
I'm not thrilled about the prospect of a chest x-ray. They are pretty traumatic when the baby isn't sedated. Hopefully Ruby will get back to normal over the weekend and can avoid it.
For those CDH parents out there who've dealt with re herniation. How did you know? Where there acute symptoms? Ruby's lungs are clear and there are no bowel sounds in the chest.
As usual I brought Ruby in and told the Nurse that she was cranky and Ruby was nothing but smiles. She kept trying to grab Dr. J's stethoscope and play with it. Silly silly girl.
THis was Ruby right before her bath last night.

This Ruby "helping" cook dinner.

Doesn't this look like a comfy warm napping spot?

Ruby looks great! She's
Ruby looks great! She's grown soo much and I love her smile. By the way, we have the same play table, Alina loves it! So sorry to hear that Ruby's started vomiting again. I can only imagine how hard it must be for you guys. As you know Alina reherniated. We didn't notice until the last moment because we didn't know what the signs are. Initially her chest sounded clear but then we heard some weired noises in her tummy- like a tractor really, then she started projectile vomiting and the last thing was her breathing- she started wheezing and turned white. That's when I rushed to the hospital. If she had had a chest xray we wouldn't have to wait until the last minute. We hope this helps. Good luck! We hope that it's not reherniation.
Poor little Ruby... I hope
Poor little Ruby... I hope this all passes and nothing comes of her spitting up! I have to say that she looks so happy and cute in those pics!!! Many positives vibes for the McKee Starling family! Hugs

Hi Holly, Sooooo sorry about
Hi Holly,
Sooooo sorry about Ruby. When Jaime re-herniated, he vomited often and had a lot of diarrhea. He was also on continuous O2 at the time, with a monitor and dropped his sats requiring more O2. Oh and he had significant retractions. His re-herniation, though we were at a premier medical center, went undiagnosed for 4 weeks. It took an upper GI to "officially" diagnose him. Once back in the OR, the surgeon found that his liver, bowels and kidney were up. (Just a reminder, Jaime is a right-sided CDH and at the time didn't have a closed fascia.)
So hoping it's not that! Many prayers coming to you this weekend!
Please keep us posted!
Hugs,
Sheryl
Are those the pretty rose
Are those the pretty rose stickers? For her "aunt" Amy Rose? :) Hope things get better over the weekend. What a little stinker to be all grumpy and cranky at home and all giggles and smiles in the doctor's office. Sending good positive thoughts your way. Hugs and Love from IA
