Think Calming Thoughts

We came in this morning and Ruby was wide awake and her heart rate and respiration were high.  She was over breathing the vent again.  We want her resperations to be about 10 per minute.  When she gets stressed they jump up and her little chest moves up and down.  Then her heart rate shoots up into the 170's.  Not good.  She needs to rest. It starting to seem like she has gotten a bit more of my personality than her Dad's.  As much as I hate it when people tell me to relax, Ruby really needs to RELAX.

Her latest chest x-ray didn't look that great (3 steps forward, 2 steps back).  We're waiting for rounds to see what the doctors think.  They replaced the line into her stomach again, which will hopefully help decompress it.  I personally will feel better when she is off of ECMO and has had her surgery.  Of course all that comes with a complete different set of worries.  Right now we are on Ruby's schedule and it's up to her.  All we can do is hope.  As far as we know we can expect 3-5 more days of ECMO and letting her rest.

Chris is going to take advantage of the rest time and try to get some work done.  We're trying to conserve his vacation time for when Ruby comes home to Texas.  Our Doctors have been reallt understanding and willing to give thier opinions as when Chris should and should not work.

I know you two are busy

I know you two are busy keeping an eye on the thrid (and presumably each other some), but don't forget to update us occasionally. :-) This is my Primetime! I just know that with as much fight and spunk as she has now, you're going to really see that shine through again and again... like when she can choose where and what to use her crayons on, how to cur her own hair, or starts declaring what you need to make for dinner. We'll not even think about the teen years, LOL.

Sending Good Stuff (and my bad humor) to you from Oklahoma!

Hello, I just wanted you to

Hello, I just wanted you to know my 3 1/2 year old son, Josiah, is praying for "Baby Ruby" every single day...at bedtime prayer time and any other time we pray during the day. He loves to pray for people who have special needs and he has put Ruby at the top of his list. We eagerly read your daily updates and we are praying wholeheartedly for complete success and for you guys to have strength and endurance through it all, which you obviously are already showing so well.

Love from Texas (Tyler, Texas :) ),

The Power Family (Tye, Julie, Josiah and baby Eowyn)

I am lifting Ruby up to God

I am lifting Ruby up to God asking him to help Ruby to relax and for the preparation of her tiny body for the much needed surgery. I am praying that you and Chris are able to receive much needed sleep and comfort. You are being lifted up by many of your family in Georgetown, Texas. Sending his love.

Just got to catch up on

Just got to catch up on Ruby. I'm sorry she was stressed today - I really hope she was able to calm down quickly and get back on track.

Hope the docs were able to give some good news and that tomorrow will be a far better day. All of our love from the 'Lou...

Tami, Chuck, and Aisling

We are praying for Ruby that

We are praying for Ruby that she continues to remain stable and that her heart rate comes down. We hope that the next x-ray will show improved lungs.

Praying now that Ruby will

Praying now that Ruby will relax and that he little stomach will decompress and that the next steps will be of the forward kind... "The LORD is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth."

Will they let you play any

Will they let you play any music in the NICU? Maybe a little Coltrane would help..

Come on, Ruby! You're kicking butt so far! You can do it, baby girl! :)

She's a fighter, that's for sure. I hope things start going back to smooth today for you guys.

We're thinking of you!

Love,
Missy, Larry and Anthony

We are praying for Ruby!

We are praying for Ruby! Hopefully she can relax today and let ECMO do its job. You really are on Ruby time and you have to take each day or even moment as it comes. For things change so quickly in the NICU. Thinking of you and really hoping Ruby has a very good day for you.

Hugs - Tracy, Ian's mom from CHERUBS

I'm thinking about you three
