Rest

Well the day ended on a better note.  They did not change out the ECMO circuit after all.  Ruby's platelet count is back  where it should be and seems to be holding at acceptable levels.   Her stats are better than we have seen them in days.  She's still shunting, but not as bad.  She is also resting peacefully with the new sedative.

Chris and I decided to sleep at our apartment this evening.  There are a lot of really sick babies right now and several people were requesting rooms.  Since our baby is "the sickest in the hospital" we are guaranteed a room.  We decided that since Ruby seemed to be doing better we could let another family have a room.

We are hoping that tomorrow she won't need a circuit change, meaning if  her blood product levels stay where they should be.  It'd be really nice if they were able to put in the chest tube.  As we all know things change by the minute.  Even her Dr. doesn't know when things will happen until the time is right.

Time for bed so we can rest up for tomorrow.

Ruby's story is so tender and your patience and strength are admirable. Thanks again for your open and heartfelt sharing.

Continuing to pray for Ruby

Continuing to pray for Ruby and her doctors. Also, continue to read/learn daily from this blog. You guys are incredible. .....I'm also so glad to hear that you're kissing her...she needs that, I feel certain! The entire NICU experience has to be draining on all involved and it's nice to hear that you are thinking of the other parents when it is certain to be a hard decision just to figure out where to sleep.
Thinking of you both....sending good healthy vibes from UT to PA....Chanda Brady

Holly and Chris,

Oh, I'm not sure you can do

Oh, I'm not sure you can do that so if you can't, please tell her we are thinking of her and praying for her everyday.

Natalie

I kiss her all the time.

I kiss her all the time. Chris gets upset because I don't use hand sanitizer on my lips, oh well. I'm her mother and I'm going to give her a kiss. Plus the nurse said it was OK :)

I wouldn't do it if I was sick either.

Good news about Ruby. You

Good news about Ruby. You guys are commended for letting other families use a room at the hospital. We will continue to pray that Ruby has more good news like this and that they will soon be able to take care of the fluid on her lungs and that she will grow stronger each day.
