Another circuit change

Dr. H decided that it was in Ruby's best interest to change out the circuit, again.  Her platelet count had started dropping again.  If the same thing happens on the new circuit we will know for sure that Ruby has has an infection.  She is back on the antibiotics and hopefully we can kick whatever bug might be growing.  The circuit change will make her swell up again.  It is another set back but a necessary one.  The plan is to change out the circuit today then test her platelet count again.  Then if everything looks good tomorrow continue on with the chest tube.  She will also get a new endotracheal tube because she is leaking around her current one.  It makes her sound like she is snoring.  While it sounds cute, it's not the most efficient thing in terms of getting air into her lungs once she's back on the ventilator.

I feel a lot better this morning knowing that we have a plan.  For so long things have been up in the air.  We still don't have a date or time line for surgery, but that's the least of our worries.  We know she has lung tissue, we are more concerned about how well that lung tissue works.  Her defect isn't huge and it really is the least of our worries at this point.  The surgery won't cure the pulmonary hypertension.

Of course all of this could change in the next five minutes.

I always hated how

I always hated how everything would change so quickly when Davis was in the hospital. Just when we were feeling comfortable with a plan, it was back to square one. Just remember that everything is on Ruby time now.

Incidentally, my grandmother's best friend was named Ruby. She was a very feisty lady, and I'm hoping your little Ruby takes after her :)

We continue to pray for

We continue to pray for little Ruby. When I was where you are, I always hated how one minute there was one plan and the next minute another. I pray the Ruby takes to the circuit change well and that she isn't set back too much because of it. I also pray for no infection!!

The John Deere internet

The John Deere internet police are probably going to get me, but I was wondering how everyone was doing. I think I understand where you are coming from with feeling better that you have a plan...even if that plan can change in 5 minutes. I think about you guys all the time. Hang in there...hugs and love from IA.

Hang in there, Mom and Dad.

Thinking of you and praying for Ruby. I hope she doesn't take too many steps backwards with this circuit change and they can get her platelet count where it should be. Stay strong Ruby and keep fighting!!
